Between 2022 and 2024, Brazilian sugar exports grew strongly, reaching US$18.6 billion and 38.2 million tons in 2024, with average prices above US$480/ton. In 2025, however, there is a decline: until July, they were US$7.3 billion, 16.4 million tons and a falling average price (US$447/ton), indicating a market slowdown after two years of records.

In July 2025, crystal sugar fell to a 3-year low, but began to recover at the end of the month. Production in the Center-South region fell 9.2%, while Paraíba saw a 28% increase. Exports, purchases from Pakistan and the Philippines supported prices, but the good harvest in Brazil and prospects in India pressured prices. Domestic sales paid 1.9% more than exports.

The 2025/26 harvest should keep Brazil competitive in sugar, with high international demand due to lower supplies from India and Thailand. In ethanol, corn production is growing, balancing the domestic market and reducing price volatility compared to gasoline.
